Police officer who decamped with 7 rifles joins Hizbul

Srinagar: A Special Police Officer (SPO), who decamped with seven rifles and a pistol from the residence of a legislature in Srinagar on September 28, has joined Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) as his picture with top commander and other carders of the militant outfit has gone viral on social media.
Police has announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to anyone,who gives information about the whereabouts of the SPO even as Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that the policeman was in contact with militants before fleeing with the weapons.
 
A picture of SPO Adil Bashir and four other militants, including top HM commander Zeenat-ul-Islam, flaunting seven AK-47 rifles has gone viral on social media, including Facebook and WhatsApp. Though it could not be confirmed if the rifles flaunted on the picture are the rifles decamped from the legislature's residence.
 
The incident comes despite government increasing substantially the honorariums of SPOs a few days back.A police spokesperson on Friday said that Adil, a resident of Shopian, fled with seven rifles and a licensed pistol of the legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir from his residence at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar.
 
A police officer said that the Bashir had executed the plan to decamp with the weapons with the help of a civilian, who is also a resident of Shopian. "The civilian has been identified and will soon be nabbed," he said, adding Adil was in constant contact with militants before executing the plan.(UNI)
