New Delhi: The controversial BJP MP Pragya Thakur Singh on Friday tendered apology in the Lok Sabha for her reported remarks on Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse.
"Kisi bhi prakar se kisi ko koi thess pahunchi ho toh uske liye mein khed prakat kar kshama chahti hoon (If in any manner I have hurt anyone, I tender apology and seek forgiveness)," Bhopal MP Thakur said during Zero Hour after the issue was raised for the second day repeatedly by the Congress lawmakers.

However, she took offence to remarks from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks in the House describing her as a 'terrorist'.

"A member of the House referred to me as 'terrorist'. It is an attack on my dignity," she said amid support from several BJP members.

Ms Thakur, who was arrested and in custody over Malegaon bomb blasts, said - "No charges against me have been proven in court."

Ms Thakur joined the BJP on April 17 and was fielded by the ruling party from Bhopal against Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey supported Ms Thakur's observation and said privilege notice ought to be served to Congress leader Gandhi for his remarks against an elected 'woman member' of the House.

Mr Dubey alleged that the Congress was following double standards policy on the issue of Godse as they have now aligned with the Shiv Sena which some time back had called Nathuram Godse a "patriot".

Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury countered Mr Dubey's remarks and maintained what is written in a newspaper need not be the business of the House; but BJP MP Pragya Thakur Singh has made her observation within the House.(UNI)
