Prez, VP, PM, others pay tributes to martyrs of 2001 Parliament attack

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Speaker Om Birla and others on Monday paid tributes to all the security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty on this day in 2001, during attack on the Parliament.

In a tweet, the President wrote, "I pay homage to the brave security personnel who laid down their lives on this day in 2001, defending the Parliament of the world’s largest democracy against a dastardly terrorist attack. The nation shall forever remain grateful to them for their supreme sacrifice."

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs, the Vice President said the nation is eternally indebted to them for their supreme sacrifice.

Citing that terrorism is a threat to humanity and world peace, Naidu said "All countries must always remain united to defeat the scourge of terrorism."

In a tweet the PM wrote, "I pay my tributes to all those security personnel who were martyred in the line of duty during the Parliament attack in 2001. Their service to the nation and supreme sacrifice continues to inspire every citizen."

Taking to twitter, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote, "The nation today salutes those brave sons who made the supreme sacrifice in 2001 while protecting the Parliament House."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet wrote, " I salute the courage and valor of brave security forces who made their supreme sacrifice to protect the pride of the nation during cowardly terrorist attack on the Parliament."

"My tributes to those brave security personnel who sacrificed their lives during attack on the Parliament House in 2001. The nation will remain grateful for their courage and supreme sacrifice in the line of duty," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted.

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda also took to twitter to pay homage to the martyrs and said the country will be always indebted to them for their courage, valor and dedication. (UNI)
