New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha on Friday morning witnessed brief disruptions after a wad of cash was found in the House from the seat assigned to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the members about the incident and said that an investigation was under way in the matter.
Dhankhar said that during the routine anti-sabotage check of the Chamber on December 5, 2024, following the adjournment of the House a wad of cash was found on the seat belonging to Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
On this, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge stood up and said that until the investigation is complete, any member's name should not be taken.
Following this, a brief spell of chaos prevailed in the House. Leader of the House and BJP MP J.P. Nadda termed the incident as abnormal and said that it was an injury to the dignity of the House.
"It raises a question on the working of this House. I have full faith in you and your ruling that the investigation will be conducted in detail and we will have the clear picture in front of us soon,” Nadda said.
