Sriharikota: India's workhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C54 on Saturday successfully launched the 1,117 kg Earth Observation Satellite-06 EOS-06 and eight nano satellites in different Orbits.
PSLV-C54/EOS-06 Mission is accomplished. After EOS-06 satellite, the remaining eight nano satellites have all been injected into their intended orbits, ISRO said.

After a smooth 24-hr countdown, the XL version of PSLV, in its 56th flight, took off majestically from the First Launch Pad,carrying EOS-06--an Earth Observation Satellite in the Oceansat
series--and eight nano satellites, at 1156 hrs.

The entire mission lasted about 8,200 secs (2 hours & 20 mts) during which the primary satellite and nano satellites were injected in two different Sun Synchronous Polar Orbits (SSPOs).

The nano-satellites are four Astrocast-2 satellites from USA (weihging 17.92 kg), two Thybolt Satellites--Thybolt-1 and Thybolt-2--of Dhruva Space (1.45 kg), INS-2 BhutanSat (18.28 kg) and Anand from Pixxel (16.51 kg). Astrocast is a technology demonstrator satellite for the internet of things as the payload from Spaceflight, USA.

About 18 minutes after lift off, EOS-06 was injected into an altitude of 742 km with an inclination of 98.34 deg to the equator by the four stage, 44.m tall vehicle, with a lift off mass of 321 tonnes.Later, the fourth stage engine was twice switched off and restarted and the vehicle was lowered into a 511 km circular After twice switching off and restarting the fourth stage
orbit and the remaining eight nano satellites were injected into the desired orbit.

After the ignition and separation of all the four stages, the EOS-06 was separated in Orbit-1 after a flight duration of about 18 minutes.Subseqeuntly, Orbit change was done by using the two Orbit Change Thrusters (OCTs) introduced in the Propulsion Bay Ring of the PSLV-C54 Vehicle.

The fourth stage engine was twice cut off and restarted, the veicle was lowered for injection of nano satellites after which the Passenger Payloads (PPLs) were separated in Orbit-2.The first of the nano satellites got separated at an altitude of 516 km and the last satellite was placed at an altitude of 528 km.

Addressing the Scientists from the Mission Control Centre after the successful launch, ISRO Chariman Dr.S.Somanath said "I am happy to announce that PSLV-C54 mission was successfully accomplished".All the satellites were placed into the desired orbit, he said. This is the fifth mission for ISRO in 2022.

This is 24th Flight of PSLV-XL version with 6 PSOM-XLs.EOS-06 is the third generation satellite in the Oceansatseries, which will provide continuity services of Oceansat-2
spacecraft with enhanced payload specification as well as application areas.

The payloads are Ocean Color Monitor (OCM-3), Sea SurfaceTemperature Monitor (SSTM), Ku-Band Scatterometer (SCAT-3)and ARGOS.

The objective of this Mission was to ensure the data continuity of Ocean colour and wind vector data to sustain the operational applications.(ED : PICK UP SUITBALY FROM EARLIER SERIES).(UNI)
