Chandigarh: Seven police officers, including one of SP rank, have been suspended in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security lapse during his visit to Punjab last year.
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, SP, Bhatinda, Gurvinder Singh Sangha was among those placed under suspension for negligence of duty. At that time, he was the SP Operation in Firozpur.
The other police officers who have been suspended are retired DSPs Parson Singh and Jagdish Kumar, Inspector Tejinder Singh, Inspector Balwinder Singh, Inspector Jatinder Singh, and ASI Rakesh Kumar.
The Prime Minister's convoy was allegedly stranded for over 20 minutes on a flyover when he was going by road from Bathinda airport to Ferozepur on January 5, 2022, as a group of protestors gathered at the end of the flyover. (UNI)
