New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday refuted the charges of “vendetta” politics over the arrest of BJP leader Tajinder Bagga and said Punjab Police have sent several notices to him to join the investigation but he refused.

“He is a repeat offender in many cases and today BJP is trying to defend such a person,” said AAP spokesperson Saurab Bhardwaj.

Bhardwaj said the Punjab Police filed a case against Bagga for trying to disrupt peace and tranquility in Punjab. Earlier on Friday, a Punjab Police team arrested and took away Bagga from his home in Delhi.

Bagga had, among other things, accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of visiting a gurudwara drunk.

BJP complains against Punjab Police

A complaint has been lodged with Delhi Police that a Punjab Police team allegedly beat the father of BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga when they came to arrest the latter from his residence in the national capital.

Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta tweeted: “Sending 50-60 Punjab Police personnel to the house of a young BJP leader, forcibly lifting him up and getting his elderly father beaten up is proof of the dictatorial mindset of Arvind Kejriwal.”

The BJP said it will stage a demonstration outside the Aam Aadmi Party office here. (Inputs from UNI)
