Ram Temple trust receives huge funds, still long way short of total cost

Ayodhya:Funds were flowing in a big way as contribution for the grand Ram temple construction work here at the Ramjanambhoomi premises and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation on August 5.Already over Rs 22 crore have been given by the devotees along with huge quanitity of gold and silver bricks for the foundation work, the trust stated on Monday.
The Trust general secretary Champat Rai said that people are donating silver bricks in large numbers but we need cash money for the construction work." I appeal to the people to deposit cash money in our bank account instead of donating silver bricks, " Mr Rai added.Meanwhile, Ram Kathavachak, Murari Bapu announced on Tuesday that it donated Rs five crore for the temple construction.
       
According to the figures available, during the past four month lock down ,the Trust received cash donation sent online and through other sources which exceeds Rs six crore.The day the Trust was formed,  the government receiver transferred over  Rs 11 crore as fixed deposit which was the fund collected as donation from the devotees who prayed at the Ram Lalla temple from December 6,1992 to February 2020.However, the Trust have also been handed over gold, silver and jewelleries worth over several crore rupees, which were donated by the devotees since December 6,1992.
 
The Trust said that before the lock down, a jeweler of Hyderabad donated one kilogram of gold and five kilograms of silver bricks for the shilanyas programme on the name of his son.Besides,  the UP Bullion Association have donated 34 kilograms of silver to the Trust recently. Trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das too donated five silver shilas while UP Chief Minister Yogi  Adityanath had donated Rs 11 lakh on March 25 last when the idols were shifted to a makeshift temple. 
 
Several renowned saints and devotees have also announced to give donation for the construction of Ram temple which includes Baba Ramdev and others.As per the preliminary cost of the Ram temple, assessed by the construction companies, a fund of Rs 500 to 800 crores would be required for it. However the cost could escalate if the area of the temple premises was increased.(UNI)
