New Delhi: A federation of resident doctors has announced that it will hold a nationwide protest on June 1, Tuesday, against Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's alleged remarks against doctors and modern medicine.
"We shall hold a nationwide black day protest on 1st of June, 2021 without hampering the patient care to voice our protest against the illogical, unscientific, demeaning and derogatory statement of Mr Ram Kisan Yadav against Corona warriors and modern medicine," the Federation of Resident Doctors Association India (FORDA) said in a press release.
The federation demanded an unconditional public apology or action against Ramdev for his alleged remarks.
Recently, the Yoga guru in an event called doctors "stupid", and batting for Ayurveda, criticised modern medicine as well as anti-COVID-19 vaccines for failing to check the deaths from the virus.
Ramdev also held allopathy responsible for post-COVID-19 complications like 'black fungus'. He even mocked doctors during his regular Yoga session.
The federation alleged that Ramdev has tried to derail the vaccination programme by instilling fear among the people and asked why so far no action has been taken against him.
The Indian Medical Association has also severely criticised Ramdev's remarks and asked for filling a case against him.
Ramdev has been repeatedly claiming that his ayurvedic medicine Coronil can cure COVID-19 patients. However, no official organisation or body has so far approved his claim. (UNI)
