SC orders floor test in Karnataka assembly on Saturday

New Delhi: Minutes after Supreme Court ordered floor test for trial of strength in Karnataka on Saturday, the BJP on Friday said the party will be able to prove majority in the state assembly.
"BJP is ready and confident of winning trust vote In #Karnataka. We will prove our majority on the floor of the House. @BSYBJP @narendramodi @AmitShah @BJP4Karnataka @BJP4India," Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar tweeted.
 
Mr Javadekar was the poll in charge for BJP in Karnataka for the recently held assembly elections. 
In a keenly legal wrangling in the Supreme Court, the three-member bench said the trial of strength will be taken up only on Saturday at 1600 hrs.
 
While BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa was sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday, the JD(S) with 37 MLAs with support  of 78 MLAs of Congress has staked claim to form government in recently held assembly polls in Karnataka.
 
In the 224-member assembly, the BJP emerged single largest party by winning 104 seats.
 
Meanwhile, Congress leader P C Chako also welcomed the Supreme Court order and exuded confidence that JD(S) and Congress will be able to win the trust motion and provide a stable government in the state.
 
Mr Abhishekhmanu Singhvi, who represented JD(S)-Congress in the court, described the judgement as "historic".(UNI)
