SC's new Roster system to come into effect from July 2

New Delhi: The Supreme Court's new roster system will come into being, two days after Justice Jasti Chelameswar retires from the apex court.The new roster states, what type of cases each Judge would hear. The new roster will be effective from July 2.
It was the second time on Sunday that Chief J (CJI) Dipak Mishra made the roster public. 
For the first time on February 1, the CJI made a new roster system, after the four judges of the apex court held a press conference, led by Justice (now retired) Jasti  Chelameswar, making allegations against the CJI of allocating cases arbitrarily.
 
As per the new roster system, the CJI Court will only hear the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) cases.Justice Madan Bhimrao Lokur will hear land acquisition, ecological imbalances and protection of wildlife, social jurist and consumer protection matters, whereas Justice Kurian Joseph will hear the labour law, rent act, family law and contempt of court cases.
 
As per the new roster system, Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri will hear the direct and indirect taxes, election cases and judicial officer cases, whereas Justice S A Bobde will hear the cases related to compensation, admission to educational institutions, other than Engineering and Medical, apart from academic cases.
