Sealing drive: Delhi traders observe bandh

New Delhi: Expressing anguish over the ongoing sealing drive in the national capital, more than seven-lakh Delhi traders on Tuesday observed 'bandh' and held demonstrations in various parts of the capital.In order to oppose sealing, a section of the traders organised a sit-in programme, while others opted different means.Confederation Of All India Traders (CAIT) said, ''This sealing is unjust and illegal.''

All major markets of the capital including Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazar, Kashmiri Gate, Bhagirath Place, Khan Market, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Defence Colony, Rajouri Garden, and other markets all the zones including trans-Yamuna area remained completely closed.In addition to CAIT, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) also joined the protest against sealing by ordering complete shutdown.CTI did protest in a unique way by taking out a 'death procession' of sealing.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal threatened that he would go on a hunger strike if the sealing did not stop by March 31.Mr Kejriwal on Tuesday held an all-party meeting here to find a solution to the issues raised during the ongoing sealing drive in the national capital.(UNI)
