New Delhi: Section 144 CrPC was imposed in the Shaheen Bagh area in the National Capital on Sunday to avoid confrontation between two groups involved in the ongoing protest on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The Hindu Sena had called for the evacuation of the Shaheen Bagh road on March 1, although they withdrew their proposed protest against the anti-CAA movement in Shaheen Bagh after police intervention. Still, the police have deployed a large number of personnel as a precautionary measure.

A police officer said that personnel have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Although the violence erupted in north-east Delhi, the police are keeping a watch on every activity in other parts of the capital.

There was apprehension that people could create problem even in the south-east Delhi area, so the police have taken precautionary measures.

Significantly, protests against the CAA have been going on day and night in the Shaheen Bagh for more than two months on the Kalindi Kunj road.

People have been facing severe problems due to the closure of the road connecting South Delhi to Noida. (UNI)
