Sensex crashed over 1600 points as Russia-Ukraine tensions escalate

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday dropped 1625 points at 55,606.53 in the opening session after Russia ordered a military operation in Ukraine.

The Nifty too slid 482 pts at 16,580.80.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 55,996.09 and 55,147.33 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,705.25 and 16,453.65 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap and Small Cap fell by 3.28 pc each. All 30 scrips were in red.

The losers were Nestle India by 1.04 pc to Rs 17,762, Sun Pharma by 1.65 pc to Rs 826.35, ITC by 1.69 pc to Rs 212.30, Hind Unilever by 1.70 pc to Rs 2222.40 and Asian Paints by 2.20 pc to Rs 3168.35. (UNI)
