Mumbai: Snapping a losing streak of last two sessions, the BSE sensex on Friday surged 480.57 pts to close at 65,721.25 on the strength of IT, Telecommunications, Technology and Bankex stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) rallied 135.35 pts at 19,517 pts.The Sensex opened higher at 65,453.55, up 213 pts. It was spurted 559 pts at 65,799.27, days high, before closing. at 65,721.25, surging 480.57 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 19,538.85 and 19,436.45 pts respectively.In stocks, IT was a major gainer, up 1.47 pc followed by Telecommunications by 1.45 pc, Technology by 1.39 pc, Financial services by 0.83 pc and Bankex by 0.66 pc.
In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a star gainer, rising by 3.25 pc to Rs 1408.36, Tech Mahindra by 2.69 pc to Rs 1173, Wipro by 2.37 pc to Rs 409, Bharti Airtel by 2.02 pc to Rs 889.60 and HCL Technology by 1.78 pc to Rs 1145.
The losers were SBI by 2.95 pc to Rs 573.15, NTPC by 1.09 pc to by 217.65, Maruti Suzuki by 0.96 pc to Rs 9450, Bajaj Finserv by 0.69 pc to Rs 1484.65.The Mid cap increased by 0.65 pc and Small cap by 0.66 pcIn 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.(UNI)
