Sensex slumps 874.16 pts, sinks to the 3 month low point

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday plunged another 874.16 points below 60K level at 59,330.90, three month low following heavy selling in Utilities, Power, Oil and Gas and Telecommunications stocks.With this, the Sensex has crashed over 1600 pts within couple of sessions.
 
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 287.60 pts at 17,604.35.The sensex opened weak at 60,166.90, fell 39 pts. It was plummeted nearly 1231 pts at 58,974, days low before closing at 59,330.90, sliding 874.16 pts from its previous close.
 
The sectoral indices that fell were Utilities by 7.34 pc followed by Power by 6.79 pc, Oil and Gas by 5.75 pc and Telecommunication by 3.79 pc.
 
In scrips, SBI was worst hit, eased by 4.67 pc to Rs 542.25 followed by ICICI Bank by 4.29 pc to Rs 818.65, IndusInd Bank by 3.88 pc to Rs 1111.35, Axis Bank by 1.96 pc to Rs 874.20 and Kotak Bank by 1.86 pc to Rs 1716.95.
 
The gainers were Tata motors by 6.22 pc to Rs 445.55, ITC by 1.69 pc to Rs 346.40, M & M by 0.60 pc to Rs 1319.20 and Ultracemco by 0.41 pc to Rs 6732.05.
 
Adani Group companies slid up to 20 percent and hit their lower circuits in the wake of a short-seller attack on the conglomerate.The Mid Cap fell by 1.29 pc and Small Cap by 1.89 pc.In 30 scrips, 7 advanced while 23 declined. (UNI)
