Sharad faction of JD(U) removes Nitish Kumar from the party's prez post

New Delhi: The Sharad Yadav faction of Janata Dal (United) today removed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar from the post of party's president and appointed senior Gujarat party leader Chhotu Bhai Vasava as its working president. The suspended leader from Nitish led JD(U) party, Arun Srivastava today informed that the senior party leaders today met here. Nineteen state presidents of the outfit and other members of the executive took part in the meeting in which it was decided to render all decisions previously taken by Nitish Kumar as party president as 'invalid'.
Mr Srivastava informed about the appointment of Gujarat party legislator Vasava as the new working party president in place of removed Mr Kumar. He also told about party's plans to meet the Election commissioner tomorrow in connection with the allotment of election symbol to the party and to seek time to submit relevant documents in this regard. Mr Srivastava stated that the party has constituted a 'disciplinary committee' to initiate an enquiry against Mr Kumar and others ditching the party. The Sharad group of the JD(U) had convened this meet of the national executive in which future strategy of the party was also discussed. (UNI)
