Mumbai: Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, a cabinet berth. Saamna executive editor and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who wields influence in Sena and also considered close to Mr Pawar in Delhi circles in a signed article made this revelation yesterday. He further wrote Mr Pawar said that Mr Modi had a meeting with him in the presence of Ms Supriya. "The PM told me that he wanted Supriya in the union cabinet," Mr Raut wrote quoting Mr Pawar.

Mr Raut wrote, quoting Mr Pawar that Ms Supriya, who was also present at the meeting told Mr Modi that she would be the last person to go with BJP. Mr Raut, a known BJP baitor, claimed that state NCP leaders are in touch with the BJP. "Our stand is clear. However, such reports are carried only to create confusion," Mr Raut quoted Mr Pawar. However, this article has another side as Modi-Shah combine are not having a cordial relationship with Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray. This may be an attempt to win NCP having 41 MLAs in Maharashtra. It may be recalled that NCP was the first to offer outside support to BJP when the party was falling short by 23 to form the government. Mr Raut, taking a dig at BJP, said BJP is the modern incarnation of Congress which is inducting all and sundry. (UNI)
