Ayodhya: Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam on Monday urged the Opposition 'not to oppose Lord Ram, but oppose a political party because it can be defeated, not Lord Ram'.
 
"Those people who are opposing, I want to tell them this that they should oppose a political party, not Lord Ram. One can defeat a political party but cannot defeat Lord Ram, Sanatan Dharma and Bharat. And Lord Ram is India's soul," he told reporters here.

 
Talking about the political controversy over the ceremony, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale denied it to be a BJP event and appealed to the people to boycott them in the upcoming election.
 
"If this was a BJP agenda, the Opposition leaders would not have been given an invitation ... This is not a BJP event. Opposition should have come here. But they boycotted it, I appeal to the people to boycott them in the upcoming election," he said.

 
Actor Nitish Bharadwaj, who essayed the role of Lord Krishna in the television series Mahabharat, says it is a good fortune that he is attending the Consecration Ceremony, and this comes after the killing of karsevaks during the rule of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
