New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday discharged Congress leader Shashi Tharoor of all charges in the connection with the death case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
Special Judge Geetanjali Goel, while discharging Tharoor, asked him to furnish a bond.
Expressing his gratitude to the court, Tharoor, a Congress MP from Kerala, said he had a tough time in the last seven-and-a-half years.
Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.
Tharoor was booked under sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
In 2019, Delhi Police had asked the court to prosecute Tharoor for abetment to suicide or “alternatively” frame murder charges against him in connection with Pushkar’s death.
Special Judge Goel pronounced the order in a virtual hearing in which Tharoor was present. (UNI)
