"We don't want to pass any order. We won't want to entertain the petition," a three-judge bench headed by CJI S A Bobde said while refusing to entertain the plea.
The PIL had sought permission for Shia Sect of Muslims to take out Muharram procession on August 30. When the petitioner cited permission to Puri Rath Yatra, the Top Court observed that it was at one place from point to point. ''But you are seeking permission for all over India'', it observed.
Taking out Muharram processions all the country during this severe Covid pandemic time, will unnecessarily bring a bad name to the sect, the Court added.
When the petitioner pleaded that since Shias were concentrated in Lucknow, permission be granted there, the Apex Court asked him to approach the Allahabad High Court.(UNI)
