In a shocking incident, a four-month pregnant woman was thrown out of a moving train after she resisted a man's attempt to rape her in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district. The police have arrested the accused.

The incident took place on Thursday around 10:30 am when the woman, Revathi (36), was travelling in the ladies’ compartment of the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express train.

The officials said Revathi boarded the train with an unreserved ticket around 6:40 am and was seated in the ladies' compartment with seven other women. When the train reached Jolarpettai Railway Station around 10:15, all the women got down, leaving the coach empty.

As the train started, the accused identified as Hemaraj (27) boarded the coach. When he saw the woman was alone, he attempted to molest her. Revathi, however, resisted the assault and ran toward the toilet in a desperate bid to escape. Hemraj chased her down and threw her out of the moving train, officials added.

The passerby rushed Revathi to the Vellore Government Hospital for treatment. She sustained injuries on her hands, legs, and head.

Police registered a case based on her statement and arrested the accused.

As per officials, the accused is a habitual offender. He was recently released on bail after being jailed for murdering a woman from Chennai.
