The National Capital remains on edge!

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) With several incidents of arson taking place in Delhi, as a spill over of the violence over conviction of self-styled godman Baba Ram Rahim in a rape case, prohibitory orders for indefinite period have been imposed across the capital and central paramilitary were being mobilised. 
 
The National Capital remained on edge today as lakhs of followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief went on the rampage in neighbouring Haryana and Punjab torching vehicles and vanadalising government property during which nearly 30 lives were lost and the Army was finally in called to bring the situation under control. 
 
''Section 144 has been imposed on all 13 districts of the capital excepting north and central Delhi districts and it will remain in force till further orders. Besides Central paramilitary forces were being mobilised at some places in areas bordering Haryana,’’ Delhi police spokesperson Madhur Verma told reporters here tonight. 
 
''The situation in Delhi is under control and was being monitored closely. Strict action will be taken against anyone or group indulging in violence,’’ he said. 
 
Earlier in the day, three Delhi Transport Corporation buses were set on fire in Jyoti Nagar near Loni round about, Khayala and Jahangirpuri by miscreants, and two empty bogies of a train were torched at Anand Vihar railway station. There were no reports of any person being injured in these incidents. 
 
Mr Verma said five people, who were believed to be supporters of the Dera chief, had been arrested in connection with these incidents, adding that cases had been registered against them on the basis of the CCTV footage. He said there were no reports of any gatherings from the city. 
 
All senior police officials have been asked to keep a strict watch on the law and order situation in Delhi tomorrow as well. 
 
Besides, senior officers of the rank of DCPs will conduct patrolling during the night. 
 
Night reserves had been mobilised and put on alert in almost all police stations of the city. 
 
As a precautionary measure, prohibitory orders under section 144 had also been issued in Ghaziabad and police presence had been increased in Noida adjoining Delhi. 
 
Moreover, Ghaziabad district administration has ordered closure of schools and colleges tomorrow.
