Three Jaish militants killed in encounter with security forces

Srinagar:Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in an encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Saturday, the police said.
On a specific information about the presence of militants in the forest area of Nagbaeran Tral, Awantipora in Pulwama, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) early Saturday morning.
An encounter ensued after militants attacked security forces while moving into the forest, a police spokesman said adding three militants were killed in the encounter.
The Kashmir Zone Police, in a tweet, informed that the slain militants belonged to proscribed outfit JeM. Searches in the forest area was still going on.

Three militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in an encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Saturday, the police said.
One of the slain militant identified as Wakeel Shah was involved in the killing of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Municipal Councillor Rakesh Pandita on June 2, 2021 in Tral area of Pulwama, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range K Vijay Kumar said.
Furnishing details about the encounter, a police spokesperson said on a tip off about the presence of militants in the forest area of Nagbaeran Tral, Awantipora in Pulwama Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) early Saturday morning.
He said when the security forces were moving towards the area where the militants were hiding, they came under heavy fire. Security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
Three militants of JeM were killed in the encounter. However, search in the dense forest area was still going on when the reports last came in.
Last month two militants of the same proscribed outfit -- JeM -- were eliminated in an encounter by security forces in the woods. However, some militants had managed to escape.
With today’s killings, a total of five militants were killed during the past 24 hours in south Kashmir, where Director General of Police (DGP) has directed security agencies to intensify the CASO.
Police seize tent pitched outside slain HM militant’s house in Pulwama
Jammu and Kashmir police has seized a tent pitched outside the residence of a slain Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant Musaib Ahmad Bhat who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama on Friday.
Musaib, a resident of Khrew Pampore, and Muzamil Ahmad Rather, resident of Chakoora Pulwama were killed in an encounter with security forces at Khrew Pampore in Pulwama on Friday. Musaib was a member of HM hit squad responsible for killing of civilians in south Kashmir, including a peon of a government school Javid Ahmad Malik at Lurgan in Tral.
A police spokesman said on Saturday that a tent was pitched outside the residence of Musaib at Khrew, where people had gathered in violation of COVID Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). He said the tent along with carpets were seized by the police.
A case FIR has been registered, he said adding those found in propagating false news shall be booked under the law.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, bodies of slain militants are not being handed over to their families. The bodies are being buried by police personnel in presence of some relatives of slain militants in north Kashmir or central Kashmir.(UNI)
