Three militants killed in Srinagar; mobile internet suspended

Srinagar: Three militants were killed in an encounter which ensued after security forces launched a major Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) since early Sunday morning in down town Srinagar, where mobile internet of all Cellular companies has been suspended.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that one of the trapped militant was involved in the attack on BSF jawans last month in the valley.
“Three militants are trapped in a house. We got to know of their identity though our sources and called their parents who appealed to them to surrender. We gave them over two-and-half-hour hours to surrender. But they did not relent,” Mr Kumar told the media.
He said as security forces moved towards those houses, militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons. “The security force retaliated ensuing in an encounter”.
“Three militants have so far been killed in the exchange of fire”, he further said adding that two of the militants were local residents as per their family members. (UNI)
