Three more police personnel suspended in Palghar incident

Palghar:A day after the mass transfer of as many as 35 police personnel from the Kasa police station, district superintendent of police Gaurav Singh on Wednesday suspended three more policemen, taking the total number of policemen suspended in the mob lynching case to five now. Assistant sub-inspector of police Salunke, Sanotsh Mukne and Naresh Dhodhi (both police hawaldars) have been suspended after due inquiry, it was stated. 
The victims -- Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri (70), Sushil  Giri Maharaj (35) and driver Nilesh Telgade (30), while on the way to Surat from Mumbai to attend a funeral of a Maharaj there, were stopped by a huge mob of villagers at Gadchinchile of Kasa on the border of Dadra Nagar Haveli on intervening night of April 16-17.Within a couple of days following the incident, two police personnel -- API Anandrao Kale and PSI Sudhir Katare -- have been suspended.
 
Police have so far arrested total 101 villagers in this connection, who are currently lodged in the police custody and whose term expires on April 30. Police have also detained nine minors in connection of incident, who have been lodged at the remand home. (UNI)
