Three women Maoists killed in exchange of fire with security forces in Odisha

Koraput: Three women Maoists were killed and another red rebel was seriously injured in a fierce encounter between the security forces and the Maoists inside Dokarighati forest under Narayanpatna police station limit on late night of Sunday.Police sources said a joint team of Koraput District Voluntary Force (DVF)and the Special Operation Group(SOG) jawans on a specific tip off from intelligence input,launched a combing operation last night.

At least 15 to20 armed Maoists belonging to the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha Special Zonal Committee of the CPI ( Maoist) were camping in the area and when the joint forces approached them, the red rebels opened fire.The security forces also retaliated and in the encounter three women Maoists were killed.The Maoists in the face of a stiff gun battle from the security forces fled from the scene leaving the bodies of the three female cadres .

The security forces later recovered 10 Maoist kits and three rifles besides some other ammunition from the spot .Sources said one Maoist was also seriously injured in the exchange of fire and the security forces have launched an intensive combing operation in the area after the incident.(UNI)
