Thunderstorm with lightning predicted at isolated places in Kerala today : MET

Thiruvananthapuram: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (40-50 Kmph) is very likely  at isolated places in Kerala on Saturday, Meteorological Centre  said.
In a release here, It said Fishermen in Kerala and Lakshadweep areas were advised not to venture into the sea as squally weather with winds, speed reaching 35-45 kmph, is likely to prevail over southwest Arabian Sea off Somalia coast, Lakshadweep, Maldives area, southeast Arabian Sea and Gulf of Mannar.
 
The fishermen of Kerala are also advised not to venture into the sea on June 9, 10 and 11 due to adverse weather conditions on these days, the release added.
 
According to Kerala Disaster Management Authority (KDMA),  red and orange alerts have been announced on June 9, 10 an 11 in various district due to the arrival of southwest monsoon.
 
Heavy rainfall (115 mm - 204.5 mm) is very likely to occur in a few places in the State, it added.
Red alert was issued on June 10 in Thrissur and on June 11 in Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.
 
The Orange alert was announced on June 9 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts.
 
The Orange alert was also issued on June 10 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode, on June 11 in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam, the release said.
 
The Yellow alert was issued on June 8 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, on June 9 in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, on June 10 in Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, on June 11 in Wayanad.(UNI)
