Trouble breaks out after objectionable comment, 2 teenagers arrested

Two teenagers were arrested and two dozen trouble-makers were detained after trouble broke out over objectionable comments on a social media platform in Shishgarh town in Bareilly district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Saturday.Police sources said that two teenagers of different communities made objectionable comments on Instagram.
"Agitated by this, members of one community gheraoed the police station demanding action against the teenager of the opposite community late on Friday night," they said.Police sources said that despite the assurance by the police of taking action after inquiry, the protesters staged a demonstration in front of the teenager's house and pelted stones.
"As the trouble escalated police force from neighbouring Pilibhit district along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) and PAC was summoned on the spot," they said.
Police sources said that the situation came under control after teenagers from both sides were arrested.After inspecting the spot, Inspector General of Police (IG) Bareilly Dr Rakesh Singh said that on the basis of the complaints given by both the sides a case was lodged against the two teenagers and they were arrested late at night.
"Around two dozen trouble-makers were detained on Saturday morning. Bareilly police along with forces from Pilibhit and PAC have been deployed in Sheeshgarh," he said.
Police sources said that Divisional Commissioner Saumya Agarwal along with IG Dr Rakesh Singh and District Magistrate Shivakant Dwivedi reached the spot.SP (Rural) Raj Kumar Agarwal, who is camping in Sheersgarh said that objectionable comments were made from both the sides on a social media platform.
"During this, members of one community reached the police station that a teenager had made an objectionable comment against their religion," he said.Senior Superintendent of Police Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that the dispute broke out due to objectionable comments on the internet."Videography of the entire incident has been done and action has been initiated against those who spoil the environment," he said.(UNI)
