Two soldiers, civilian died in Pakistan shelling at LoC in Kashmir

Srinagar: Two soldiers, a civilian were killed and two, including a woman, were injured when Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing in north Kashmir districts of Kupwara and Baramulla, official sources said on Sunday.
They said Pakistan Army fired mortar shells and resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons from across the border in Teetwal sector in Kupwara targetting forward post and civilian areas at the Line of Control(LOC) late last night.
Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire continued till 0300 hrs.
According to them, two soldiers were martyred and three civilians were injured in the firing.
The injured were rushed to a hospital where one of them identified as Rafiq Ahmed, succumbed to his injuries.
They further said that over a dozen houses were damaged in the shelling and six animals also died after a shell landed on a cow shed. A massive rescue operation has been launched to shift the residents to safer places.
Pakistan Army also fired mortars and resorted to firing in Hajipore sector in Uri, Baramulla, targeting civilian areas and forward posts.
Indian troops returned the fire and hit the Pakistan bunkers, they stated.
They was no report of any loss of life or damage to property on this side of the LoC in Uri , the sources added. (UNI)
