Haveri: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday predicted that the upcoming Lok Sabha election results will likely be unfavorable for Congress, potentially leading to a split in the party.
He also stated that the Congress party is facing significant challenges in many states, with internal disturbances and questioning of leadership.
"As it is Congress is in its last leg in most of the states, except a few states. And there are a lot of internal disturbances and leadership has been questioned. Further, the results will be so dampening for Congress, it is on the verge of splitting," he told a section of the media.
Bommai also implied that the swearing-in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi could further exacerbate these issues for Congress.
"I believe that the moment Narendra Modi ji, our honourable prime minister, will take an oath. After a few months Congress is most likely to be divided," he said.
Replying to a query, Bommai mentioned that the seat-sharing arrangement between the BJP and JDS is in its final stages and is expected to be announced soon possibly the next day.
Regarding the BJP's second list of candidates, Bommai indicated that it will likely be released either the following day or the day after that.
