Union Minister Suresh Gopi calls Waqf Board 'four-letter uncivilised' entity, Congress files complaint

Wayanad: Congress has filed a complaint against Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi, alleging that his remarks on the WAQF Bill have hurt religious sentiments and incited violence.

The complaint claimed while addressing an election rally for BJP candidate Navya Haridas for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election at Kambalakkad, on Saturday, Gopi threatened to shut down the Waqf board, indirectly referring to it as a "four-letter uncivilised" entity.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) media panellist V R Anoop lodged the complaint with the Kambalakkad police. The complaint claimed Minister Suresh Gopi Suresh Gopi further said "The four-letter board would be brought down in Parliament and we can resolve it in parliament. in the next session".

IUML state leader P K Kunhalikutty condemned Gopi's comment and called it an "irrelevant remark made by the Union Minister.
