Lucknow: An employee of the Ordnance Factory in Firozabad has been arrested by the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly passing confidential information to a Pakistani agent, an official spokesman said here on Friday.

The spokesman said that for the past few days the ATS was receiving intelligence inputs that handlers of Pakistani intelligence agency were using pseudonyms to lure employees of Ministry of External Affairs and Union Government to obtain confidential, classified information and confidential documents related to Indian Army and other government organisations by luring them with money, which could pose a huge threat to India's internal and external security.

He said that on thorough investigation by the ATS, it was revealed that a person named Ravindra Kumar, who is posted as a chargeman in Ordnance Factory Hazratpur, Firozabad, sends sensitive and confidential information to a Pakistani agent who he befriended on Facebook.

The spokesman said that on Thursday after preliminary questioning of Ravindra Kumar by ATS field unit Agra, he was called to ATS Headquarters Lucknow for detailed interrogation. "During interrogation, sensitive confidential documents sent to the Pakistani agent were found from his phone, and about which Ravindra could not give any satisfactory answer.

He was informed about his crime and a case was registered and he was arrested," he said.

The spokesman said that during interrogation, Ravindra revealed that he has been working in Ordnance Factory since 2006 and is working as Chargeman in Ordnance Factory Hazratpur Firozabad since 2009. "It was revealed that in June-July 2024, he became friends with a girl named Neha Sharma (Pakistani Agent/Handler) through Facebook.

The spokesman said that Ravindra often did Whatsapp chatting, audio call and video call with the Pakistani agent and used to send confidential information of his Ordnance Factory in greed of becoming rich. "Ravindra revealed that he often deleted Whatsapp chat but some chats and confidential documents remained in the phone," he said.

He said that an FIR was registered at ATS Police Station, Lucknow. "Accused Ravindra Kumar has been arrested under relevant section of BNS 2023 and Official Secrets Act. Further legal action will be taken by presenting the accused before the court as per rules," the spokesman said.
