Hardoi: An Urdu teacher of a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district has been issued a showcase notice by the authorities after he allegedly ordered the students to greet him with ‘Salaam Alaikum’.
The matter came to light on Saturday after some students told their families that their teacher Ishtiaq Khan had allegedly pressurised them to greet him with ‘Salaam Alaikum’ instead of wishing him ‘good morning’.
After knowing this, some Bajrang Dal activists visited the school and brought the matter to the knowledge of the district education authorities there.
Hardoi’s Basic Education Officer, Hemant Rao has assured that a showcause notice has been issued to the Urdu teacher and action would be taken if the school authorities were not satisfied with his response.
