New Delhi: Ending months long confrontation with the Government, RBI Governor Urjit Patel on Monday tendered his resignation, attributing "personal reasons".
"On account of personal reason, I have decided to step down from my current position effective immediately," he said in a brief statement.He said it has been a matter of "privilege and honour" to serve the central bank in various capacities over the years.
"The support and the hard work of the RBI staff, officers and management has been the proximate drive of the Bank's considerable accomplishments in recent years," he said and added, "I take this opportunity to express gratitude to my colleagues and directors of the RBI central board, and wish them all the best for the future."(UNI)
