Patna: Body of ICICI Lombard Manager Abhishek Varun was recovered from a well in the Beur police station area here on Tuesday.
According to police, Abhishek Varun (40), a resident of Kankarbagh and a manager at ICICI Lombard, had gone to attend a family function with his family on Sunday night. While other family members returned home, Abhishek stayed back. Later he went missing.
The police said that after not getting his whereabouts, his wife filed a missing report at the Kankarbagh police station.
The police said that on Tuesday morning, his body was found in a well near Hasanpura village, in an agricultural field. His scooter was also recovered from the spot. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been called for investigation.
DSP Phulwari, Sushil Kumar says, "On 13th July, he attended a party and left the venue around 10 pm on a two-wheeler. In his last call with his family, he mentioned that the two-wheeler had fallen on him and there were walls surrounding him. A missing persons case was registered. Prima facie, it appears to be an accident.
ASP Patna Sadar says, "The police are investigating from every angle. In CCTV footage, he was seen driving the two-wheeler alone, and no one was following him. In his last call to his family, he said that he had been in an accident. It appears that he, along with the two-wheeler, fell into the well. His slippers and handkerchief were found 100 meters away from here. I appeal to all not to spread any rumours."
