Weather update: IMD issues red alert in THESE 5 districts of Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Director of the Ahmedabad Meteorological Department Dr Manorama Mohanty said on Wednesday that a red alert has been issued in five districts of the state regarding heavy rains.

Dr Mohanty informed that on July 14, a red alert has been issued in Dang, Valsad, Junagadh, Gir-Somnath and Navsari districts regarding heavy rains. More than 46.70 percent of the total seasonal rainfall has been recorded in the state so far.

He said that light to moderate rain has been predicted in the state for the next five days.

According to official data, from 6 am to 2 pm, Subir in Dang received 134 mm, Vasda in Navsari 110 mm, Gir Gadda in Gir Somnath 106 mm and Dolvan in Tapi 102 mm. While 89 talukas have recorded one mm to 92 mm of rain.

According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), 209 talukas of 33 districts received rain during the last 24 hours till 6 am. Normal life has been affected due to 233 mm of rain in Vagra of Bharuch, 212 mm to 100 mm in 24 talukas.

A total of 18 teams of NDRF and SDRF are engaged in rescue work in rain-hit districts.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that a red alert is on in Junagadh, Gir-Somnath, Dang, Valsad and Navsari districts regarding heavy rains. (UNI)
