According to police, the deceased has been identified as Ravi (35), a resident of the Bommalapur village in Chamarajanagar district.
Expressing "grief" over the incident, Mr Yediyurappa said, ups and downs are common in politics and appealed to his fans not to take any such extreme steps.
"It is not right. I am deeply hurt by Ravi's decision to end his life in such a manner. I am humbled and touched by his love, but I cannot endorse such a show of extreme love and affection towards me. It is not right on anyone's part to take such a drastic step," he said in his tweet in Kannada.
"No one can bear the loss that the family has to go through because of it," he said.
Police said the deceased Ravi, a labourer who watched the videos of Yediyurappa's resignation had told Guruswamy in the village that BSY was seen with teary eyes.
He was in a downhearted mood all night and committed suicide after reaching his canteen in the morning, according to police.
Ravi was accompanied by Yediyurappa for the by-election campaign in 2017.Chamarajanagara district BJP leaders visited the house of Ravi.(UNI)
