New Delhi: India today test-fired the intercontinental long-range ballistic missile Agni V with a range of over 5,000 km from Abdul Kalam Island of the Integrated Test Range (ITR), off Odisha coast. Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) sources said the flawless auto launch of the missile test fired from the launching complex IV of the Integrated Test Range at Abdul Kalam Island (Wheeler Island), at about 1105 hrs.

The missile followed the entire trajectory like in the textbook, with three stages of propulsion, developed completely indigenously by DRDO. The ships located in mid-range and at the target point have tracked the vehicle and witnessed the event. All the radars and electro-optical systems along the path monitored the parameters of the missile. (UNI)
