Army chalk out security strategy for Amarnath Yatra

Jammu: A Core Group Security meeting was today held at Nagrota-based White Knight Corps here to carry out the security review and coordinate security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra. The meeting was co-chaired by GoC White Knight Corps, Lt Gen AK Sharma and Dr SP Vaid, DGP, J&K. The meeting was attended by senior formation commanders of the Army and civilian dignitaries of the Jammu region.
 

The intelligence updates to review security threats to the Amarnath Yatra, were discussed in detail. All stakeholders have been advised to sensitise everyone on ground, to avoid any untoward incident. A joint strategy to include operational and administrative arrangements was chalked out in detail by all agencies to ensure peace and stability in the region and ensure an incident-free Yatra. General officer Commanding, White Knight Corps Lt Gen Sharma said the Army and its various formations deployed south of Pir Panjal, have been pro-actively involved in synergy with the civil administration, to maintain peace and communal harmony in the region. Dr Vaid appreciated the high levels of synergy in operations, exhibited by all agencies in the recent times. He encouraged those present to overcome contemporary challenges and work towards enhancing confidence among the people. (UNI)
