Panic grips Srinagar’s Jawahar Nagar area after bear enters locality - VIDEO

Srinagar: Panic gripped the Jawahar Nagar area of Srinagar city centre when people noticed a bear with a cub roaming on the streets during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, sources said.

The people of Jawahar Nagar noticed a wild bear with her cub moving on the roads during the intervening night causing panic among the residents.

They have informed the WildLife Department who have dispatched a team of experts with equipment to locate and catch the bear Wildlife warden Rashid Naqash told UNI.

The bear with the cub has also been noticed in the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed in the locality by the officials.

People in the area have been advised to take precautions while coming out of their houses to make necessary purchases.

It was not known from where the bear alongwith her cub had reached the area. However, the nearby Shankaracharya forest is about 2 kms away from Jawahar Nagar. (UNI)
