BJP faces political crisis with resignation of Minister in Manipur

Imphal: L Jayentakumar, Minister of Health and a member of the National People’s Party (NPP), submitted his resignation to Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Friday last. N Biren Singh, however, has not yet accepted the resignation letter . L Jayentakumar did not turn up at some important meetings today. The BJP government led by N Biren was formed a month ago on March 15 . All the four NPP members were inducted as Ministers.
Jayentakumar said in the letter, “ I am very thankful to your good self for making me a minister in your government with the responsibility of looking after the portfolios of Health, Arts and Culture, CADA, Vice-Chairman of JNIMS, Law.” He said he had started works with an enthusiasm. However, the visions can’t be materialised as there has been so many interferences. He, however, said he is looking to the good performances of the other three ministers of NPP.
The Congress party has also opposed the presence of BJP members in various government meetings including Assembly session. The Congress party which won 28 members has 27 now as Th Shyamkumar defected to become a minister. Congress Legislature Leader Okram Ibobi Singh and President T N Haokip have decided to wait and see. Ibobi already stated that Congress will play the role of a responsible Opposition. (UNI)
