Bhopal: Highlighting the laudable fact that law enforcement has indeed undergone a transformation since the oppressive days of the Raj when the Imperial Police’s cardinal role was protecting the British government and crushing dissent with an iron heel, a young lady officer of the Indian Police Service has launched a unique de-addiction campaign in tribal-dominated Betul District.

Superintendent of Police Simala Prasad has constituted an all-woman Blue Gang (now that might remind you of the Bollywood film Gulaab Gang) that goes from village to village generating awareness against illicit liquor and emphasising the importance of abstinence.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan released the group’s music album on Wednesday.
