Canonisation of Teresa: PM terms it a 'proud moment', Sonia Rahul heaps praises

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described the canonisation of Mother Teresa as a 'proud moment' for India. Reacting to her elevation as a Saint at a ceremony in Vatican City, the Prime Minister tweeted, 'Sainthood of Mother Teresa is a memorable & proud moment. Had shared my views on it in detail during #MannKiBaat.' The PM is currently in Hangzhou of China, attending the G-20 summit.
Sonia, Rahul hail Canonisation of Mother Teresa
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi today hailed the Canonisation of Mother Teresa, as the recognition of her service to the poorest of poor, dying and destitute. Describing the life of Mother Teresa as an epitome of grace, compassion and love, Ms Gandhi said,'her saintly life will forever inspire humanity to commit to the cause of those who have no voice, no community, no home, no care and no love.'
Wishing the Missionaries of Charity great success, Ms Gandhi stressed that every Indian took great pride in the life, work and sainthood of Mother Teresa and shall be always grateful for her service. Mother Teresa will be canonized at a ceremony at Vatican city later today. Describing Mother Teresa as a 'symbol of service and compassion', Mr Gandhi said,'A symbol of service &compassion, Mother Teresa showed the world the extraordinary power of love. (UNI)
