Lucknow: Confusion prevails on the candidatures in more than two dozen seats in Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls between the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Congress even as in four phases filing of nomination papers have ended today. There are several seats where both the SP and Congress candidates have filed their nominations and both have filed their papers with the respective party's election symbol.
Uttar Pradesh SP president Naresh Uttam, however, tried to downplay the issue saying that the matter would be solved by the party very soon but could not give any concrete reply on when. "Both Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi would make an announcement soon over the candidates confusion and even a fresh list of all 403 seats would be released for clarification," he told reporters here.
Meanwhile, the proposed Common Minimum Programme was slated to be announced in Kanpur during the joint rally of Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi yesterday but it did not happen. Though SP has already announced its poll manifesto by promising smart phone, pressure cooker, one kilogram of ghee and milk powder, the Congress was yet to release its manifesto for UP. (UNI)
