Cong delegation meets PM, raises demand of loan waiver

New Delhi: A delegation of Congress Members of Parliament, led by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submitted to him a list of demands of the farmers, including a waiver of their loans and an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The delegation, which also comprised, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition of Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma, party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha Jyotiraditya Scindia and Punjab PCC chief Amarinder Singh, met Mr Modi at his office in Parliament house this morning before the commencement of the proceedings of the session.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister, that lasted for a few minutes, the Congress leaders handed Mr Modi a memorandum containing the demands of farmers which Mr Gandhi had collected during his tour of Uttar Pradesh over the past few months.Talking to reporters after his meeting with the Premier, the Congress vice-president said,'during our meeting with the PM, we urged him to provide relief to the farmers by waiving off their loans.' Mr Modi also admitted that the situation is serious. (UNI)
