Couple killed as Pak army fires heavily in Poonch

Jammu: A couple was killed as Pakistan fired heavily in forward villages and Indian posts on the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Two civilians died in Pak firing in Poonch sector this morning," police here said. They said the deceased were identified as Mohammad Shoukat, employed in Territorial Army and his wife Safia Bi, residents of Karmara. They died in Gulpur area, police said.
 

Meanwhile, a Defence Spokesman said that Pakistan today fired unprovoked and shelled Indian posts on the Line of Control in Poonch sector. "Pakistani Army this morning initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 0630 hrs in Poonch sector along the Line of Control (LC)," a Defence Spokesman here said. He said that Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively. (UNI)
