Decade old rivalry led to shootout at Delhi’s Rohini Court

New Delhi: Jitender Mann alias Gogi, who was killed by members of rival 'Tillu gang' at a Delhi Court premises on Friday, was one of the most dreaded criminals of Delhi with several cases of murder and extortion against him and his group members.
His rivalry with the Tillu Gang, led by Sunil Tajpuria alias Tillu, started around 2010, when a fight broke between the two during the Delhi University elections.
Gogi was a student of Swami Shraddhanand College, and is said to have been bright in studies. His entry into the world of crime started with a tiff during Delhi University polls. A friend of Gogi who was contesting the polls was allegedly beaten up by Tillu and his associates.
According to information with Delhi Police, after the fight, Gogi’s friend withdrew from the elections, but it started a rivalry between the two which went on for over a decade, resulting in Gogi being murdered on Friday in a court room.
Gogi had a long list of police records and criminal history, and had been arrested a number of times. In 2016, Gogi was arrested by Panipat police but he managed to escape from custody within three months while being taken to court.
In 2017, Gogi killed popular Haryana folk singer Harshita Dahiya and in 2018, he was again he was involved in a shooting with the rival Tillu gang in Delhi's Burari, in which three people were killed.
In April 2020, when Gogi was captured by Delhi Police, he had 19 cases including murder, attempted murder, extortion, dacoity, and robberies in Delhi and National Capital Region.
In March last year, Delhi Police Special Cell had arrested him along with his three accomplices from Gurugram. (UNI)
