Kejriwal govt slashes VAT on fuel to 19.4%. Check latest fuel rates

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered a massive reduction in petrol prices in Delhi. The VAT rates have been reduced from 30% to 19.42% and in this direction the petrol prices will be slashed by 8 rupees.
The Kejriwal Government’s decision to cut petrol prices will bring much needed relief to the people of Delhi. Delhi’s diesel prices are already the cheapest in NCR at Rs 86.67 per litre while the rates of diesel in Noida and Gurgaon are Rs.87.01 and Rs.87.11 per litre respectively.
Taking into the account of inflation scenario across the country Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired a cabinet meeting on Wednesday wherein it was decided to reduce the VAT on petrol. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held an in-depth discussion with the cabinet on how the general public of Delhi can be provided relief from back breaking inflation.
The CM expressed deep concern for the people of Delhi in the current situation and was of the view that it is essential for the government to reduce prices at this juncture to support the public.
The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has decided to provide relief to the people of Delhi by reducing the rates of VAT on petrol. Delhi’s VAT rates are now at a historic low. VAT rates have been reduced from 30% to 19.42% and in this direction the petrol prices will be slashed by 8 rupees.
The CM shared the news with the public and tweeted, “We have made petrol very cheap in Delhi from today. VAT rates have been reduced from 30% to 19.4%. Petrol and diesel will be cheaper in Delhi as compared to other cities of NCR. I hope this step will bring huge relief to the people of Delhi from inflation.”
The Delhi government had marginally increased the VAT rate on petrol last year. Back then there was 27 percent VAT on petrol in Delhi, which was increased to 30 percent.
CM Arvind Kejriwal has decided to reduce the rate of VAT on petrol by 10.58 percent to make it 19.42 percent, which is much less than the old VAT rate of 27 percent as well. This is a big cut in the rate of VAT on petrol in Delhi, which will directly benefit the public.
In this direction the petrol prices will be slashed by 8 rupees. It is noteworthy that as far as Diesel is concerned, the rate of Diesel in Delhi (Rs.86.67 per litre) is already lower than the rates of Noida (Rs.87.01 per litre) and Gurugram (Rs.87.11 per litre).
