DU students arrested for 'stalking' Smriti Irani in car released on bail

New Delhi: Four Delhi University students arrested for chasing and overtaking Union minister Smriti Irani's car in Lutyens' Delhi in an "inebriated" state were released on bail today. They had been arrested on the charge of stalking and outraging the modesty of a woman.
A PCR call was received yesterday evening from the minister's staff that the four youths in the age groups of 18-21 were trying to overtake an Irani's vehicle near Moti Bagh flyover and their actions were unwanted.
The car was intercepted by the PCR van near the US Embassy and four youths were apprehended and taken to Police Station at Chanakyapuri. They were released on bail from the Chanakyapuri Police Station after their medical examination, it was found that they had consumed alcohol.
The arrested youths later, apologised for their act and told the police that they didn't know they had overtaken Irani's car and even didn't indulge in any misbehavior. (UNI)
